Wide range of uses of butterfly valves

Butterfly valve is a kind of valve, which is installed on the pipeline to control the flow of medium in the pipeline. The butterfly valve is characterized by simple structure and light weight. Its components include transmission device, valve body, valve plate, valve stem, valve seat and so on. Compared with other valve types, the butterfly valve has small opening and closing torque, fast switching speed, and the most labor-saving. The most obvious performance is the manual butterfly valve.

The opening and closing part of the butterfly valve is a disc-shaped butterfly plate, which rotates around the valve stem in the valve body. The butterfly valve can be fully opened by rotating 90°. When the butterfly valve is fully opened, only the thickness of the butterfly plate is the same as that of the medium in the pipeline. Flow resistance, flow resistance is also very small.

The use of butterfly valves is very wide, almost in our daily production and life, we can see butterfly valves. Generally speaking, butterfly valves are suitable for all kinds of water and some fluid media at room temperature and pressure. For example, our domestic water pipelines, fire water pipelines, circulating water pipelines, sewage pipelines, etc. can use butterfly valves as flow control and adjustment; In addition, some powder, oil, and mud media pipelines are also suitable for butterfly valves; butterfly valves can also be used in ventilation pipelines.

Compared with other valves, butterfly valves are more suitable to be made into large-diameter valves, because under the same conditions as other types of valves, butterfly valves are smaller in size, lighter in weight, more labor-saving, and lower in cost. When the caliber becomes larger and larger, this advantage of the butterfly valve will become more and more obvious.

Although butterfly valves can be used to adjust flow in pipelines, usually butterfly valves are rarely used to adjust flow on pipelines with small diameters. One is because it is not easy to adjust, and the other is because of the sealing performance of butterfly valves and the cut-off that can also be used for flow adjustment. Compared with the valve and the ball valve, there is a certain gap.

Butterfly valves are divided into soft seals and hard seals. The uses of the two different types of butterfly valves are also different.

The soft sealing butterfly valve has good sealing performance, but it is not resistant to high temperature and high pressure environment, so it is generally used to pass water, air, oil and other weak acid and alkaline media.

Hard-sealed butterfly valves can be used in high temperature and high pressure environments and are resistant to erosion. They are generally used in chemical, smelting and other complex environments.

The transmission mode of the butterfly valve is different, and the purpose is also different. Usually the butterfly valve installed with an electric device or a pneumatic device will be used in some dangerous working conditions, such as high-altitude pipelines, toxic and hazardous media pipelines, which are not suitable for manual operation Manual butterfly valve requires electric butterfly valve or pneumatic butterfly valve.
